Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking essential resurfacing on the M8 eastbound at Junction 11 to the Queenslie footbridge, including Junction 11 off slip, from Saturday 2nd March until Sunday 10th March 2024.

This scheme will benefit around 35,000 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

The work will be carried out in two phases using overnight road closures and a signed diversion will be in operation. We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place.

Phase One of this work will take place between Saturday 2nd March and Tuesday 5th March 2024:

Closure of the M8 Junction 11 eastbound off slip road between 8pm on Saturday 2nd March and 6am on Monday 4th March. Traffic wishing to exit the motorway will continue east to Junction 10 Westerhouse Road and return westbound to exit at the M8 Junction 11 westbound off slip road.

Overnight closures of the M8 Junction 11 eastbound on slip road between 8pm and 6am each night, for three nights between Saturday 2nd and Monday 4th March. All traffic management will be removed by 6am on Tuesday 5th March. Traffic wishing to join the motorway will follow the B765/B806 Gartloch Road then turn right onto Auchinlea Road, right onto Westerhouse Road and right onto Auchinlea Way to join the eastbound M8 at Junction 10.

There will also be overnight lane closures on the eastbound M8 between Junctions 11 and 12 between Saturday 2nd and Monday 4th March, and a daytime lane closure on the eastbound M8 between the Junction 11 off and on slip roads between 6am and midday on Sunday 3rd March.

Phase Two of this work will take place between Tuesday 5th March and Sunday 10th March 2024, between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. All traffic management will be removed by 6am on Sunday 10th March 2024.

Eastbound M8 between Junctions 12 and 11: traffic will leave the motorway at Junction 12 and follow the B765/B806 Gartloch Road (via Avenue End Road) then turn right onto Auchinlea Road, right onto Westerhouse Road and right onto Auchinlea Way to join the eastbound M8 at Junction 10. The eastbound on slip road at Junction 12 will also be closed with traffic following the same diversion.

Junction 13 eastbound on slip road – traffic will continue to Provan Road then turn left onto Cumbernauld Road and right onto the B765/B806 Gartloch Road (via Avenue End Road) then turn right onto Auchinlea Road, right onto Westerhouse Road and right onto Auchinlea Way to join the eastbound M8 at Junction 10.

There will also be a lane closure with traffic using the hard shoulder on the Junction 11 eastbound on slip road between 8pm on Wednesday 6th and 6am on Thursday 7th March. Then, the Junction 11 eastbound on slip road will be closed between 8pm on Saturday 9th and 6am on Sunday 10th March. Traffic will follow the B765/B806 Gartloch Road (via Avenue End Road) then turn right onto Auchinlea Road, right onto Westerhouse Road and right onto Auchinlea Way to join the eastbound M8 at Junction 10.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note that in addition to these works, there are ongoing simultaneous works being carried out at the Woodside Viaduct on the M8, further details can be found here – swtrunkroads.scot/scottish-south-west-trunk-roads/m8/m8-woodside-m8-junctions-18-to-16-essential-works/

Eastbound through traffic should consider using the M74/M73 corridor to avoid both sets of works.
