Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking essential high mast lighting replacements and upgrades on the M8 between Junctions 15 and 16 from Thursday 26th January and Friday 28th April 2023. This will take place under a combination of daytime and night-time work.

The scheme will improve the condition of carriageway lighting along this crucial section of the M8, reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

The work will be carried out by utilising existing M8 on-slip closures, hard shoulder closures, and pedestrian management. The installation process for the mast lighting will require various overnight total closures of the roads adjacent to each mast. We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place.

The traffic management programme for this maintenance will be as follows:

26/01/23 - 27/01/23 and 03/04/23 - 05/04/23: Utilising existing M8 Junction 15 closure

31/01/23 and 13/04/23: Slip lane and hatching closure of the A803

03/02/23 and 18/04/23 - 19/04/23: M8 hardshoulder closure

20/04/23 - 24/04/23: M8 Junction 16 eastbound slip road and lane one closure

25/04/23 - 26/04/23: M8 slip and lane one closure

27/04/23: M8 Junction 15 slip lane closure

27/02/23 - 28/02/23: overnight closure

01/03/23 - 03/03/23: overnight closure

06/03/23 - 07/03/23: overnight closure

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
