Bridge Works On The M9 Between Junctions 9 And 11
Two overnight closures of the M9 are required as part of ongoing refurbishment works on Knockhill Bridge, which carries the motorway over the C34 local road near Bridge of Allan.
The M9 will be closed in both directions between Junctions 9 and 11 on the nights of 22 September and 11 October, from 20:30 until 06:00.
A diversion route suitable for trunk road traffic will be signposted in both directions between M9 Junctions 9 and 11 via the A91 and A9, adding an estimated 8.5 miles and 17 minutes to affected journeys.
The local road underneath the bridge will not be affected.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “This programme of refurbishment is key to ensuring the structural integrity of this bridge and will extend its service life for many years to come.
“Works have been under way since April and have now progressed to the stage where we need to jack up the bridge deck to allow the bearings to be replaced.
“Full closures of the motorway are essential for the safety of motorists and our workforce, however these will be limited to overnight hours to minimise disruption.
“We thank road users for their patience and understanding.”
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
All works are subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
