A99 at Ulbster | Surfacing Improvements
BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s North West trunk road operating company, is set to start essential resurfacing improvements on the A99 at Ulbster.
The works will begin on the evening of Sunday 20 September and are anticipated to be completed on the morning of Monday 5 October, subject to weather conditions. Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am.
Due to restricted road widths through this section of the A99, the carriageway will be subject to a full closure during working hours to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. Amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site. Emergency service vehicles will be allowed to pass through the site throughout the working period. Motorists may wish to bypass the works via the A9 & A882. No works will be carried out on Friday and Saturday nights.
All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours except for Monday 21, Tuesday 22, Monday 28, Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September, when temporary traffic lights will be in place.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Euan Burnett, BEAR Scotland’s North West Planned Maintenance Manager, said: “These maintenance works on the A99 at Ulbster will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.
“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
