A985 at Kincardine | Traffic Light Improvements

11th of December 2025, 7:30pm to 12th of December 2025, 6:00am

Overnight works to renew traffic light sensors on the westbound carriageway of the A985 between Longannet Roundabout and Kincardine Junction will take place on the night of Thursday 11 December.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will undertake the project between 19:30 and 06:00.

For the safety of workers and road users, the westbound carriageway of the A985 will be closed between Longannet Roundabout and Kincardine Junction during these hours.

A diversion route will be signposted via the A977 Toll Road and the A876 North Approach Road, adding an estimated 2 minutes and 0.3 miles to affected journeys.

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and minimise any inconvenience.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These improvements on the westbound A985 will address traffic sensor issues with a view to optimising journey times for motorists.

“It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during the works, however we’ve scheduled them to be carried out during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
