UPDATE- 07/03/2025

Our engineers are carrying out emergency upgrade work to our gas main in the A985 Admiralty Road, between Dunfermline Road and Brankholm Brae Roundabout.

This section of our gas main has come to the end of its useable life, so we are upgrading it to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local community.

The road was closed to westbound traffic yesterday as our engineers successfully installed an over ground bypass, to ensure continued gas supplies to thousands of local homes and businesses whilst we upgrade our network.

Whilst we were carrying out work this morning, a section of our old, existing gas main failed, causing a gas leak.

For safety reasons, the road is now closed in both directions.

All being well, we hope to have isolated the leaking section of our gas main before tomorrow morning and the road will re-open for eastbound traffic. The road will remain closed to westbound traffic as planned.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and want to assure everyone we’re working as quickly as possible.

Our project has progressed well, and we’re now at the stage where an overground bypass is required to complete the final stages of our work, whilst keeping the gas flowing to local homes and businesses.

For safety reasons, the road must be closed westbound around our working area whilst the bypass is in place. A signed diversion route will be in place for motorists via the B980, A823, A907, and A994 westbound to Cairneyhill roundabout. The road closure will be implemented on Thursday 6 March.

Some bus services will also be affected for the duration of our works. For more information on which services are affected, and the temporary replacement services, please visit: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/service-updates

We know this is a very busy route, and will be working extended hours, every day of the week, to complete our project as quickly as possible. All being well, we expect to have completed our work and have the road re-opened in one week, by Friday 14 March.

We’ve carried out multiple repairs in this stretch of road in recent months, so this permanent repair will reduce further disruption.
