A96 South of Kintore | Overnight Surfacing

A96 at Broomhill Roundabout, South of Kintore
7th of June 2026, 7:30pm to 15th of June 2026, 6:30am

Amey is undertaking overnight surfacing improvements of the A96 Broomhill roundabout south of Kintore, including both the northbound and southbound exits from Sunday 7th June to Monday 15th June.

The £250,000 project, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, has been coordinated with local closures and diversions to minimise disruption for road users.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the essential works will be carried out under overnight road closures between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night, there will be no works on Saturday 13th June.

The following diversion will be in place during the overnight closures:

Westbound traffic will leave the A96 at Craibstone Roundabout, taking the first exit to join the A90 southbound before turning right onto the A944 at Kingsford and continuing to Dunecht before turning right onto the B977 north to rejoin the A96 at Kintore.

Eastbound traffic will follow the route in reverse.

There is also a secondary diversion for non-motorway traffic which utilises the B979 from the A96 at Tyrebagger and then joins the main diversion at Skene.

To enter and exit the B987 from Kintore there is a diversion via the B994 before joining the main diversion above.

Access to Broomhill and Broomhill Caravan Park will be maintained through escorted access.

Please note the diversion route will add up to 17 minutes additional journey time.

The resurfacing will benefit more than 23,000 road users who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.
