A96 Inverurie Roundabout | Overnight Resurfacing Works
Amey is undertaking overnight surfacing improvements on the A96 at Inverurie Roundabout from Sunday 5th July to Saturday 11th July.
The work, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will involve resurfacing of the roundabout itself and approximately 70 metres of the A96 single carriageway to the north.
The work will complement ongoing overnight resurfacing on approximately 864 metres of the A96 from north of the St James’s Place overbridge to Blackhall Roundabout. The first stage will complete on Wednesday 1st July under overnight convoy, with a second stage running from Sunday 12th July to Wednesday 22nd July under overnight closures.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance at Inverurie Roundabout will be carried out under overnight convoy between 8pm and 6am each night.
Local road closures will be in place on the B933 spurs at Inverurie Roundabout heading in both directions to and from Kemnay and Inverurie. The following diversions will be in place:
Kemnay traffic (from 7.30pm to 6am)
Traffic from Kemnay looking to access the A96 can continue on the B994 to Kintore, turning right onto the B987 (towards Aberdeen/A96) and continuing to Broomhill Roundabout where they can access the A96. Traffic that would normally access Kemnay via the B993 at Inverurie Roundabout can follow this route in reverse.
Traffic looking to access the A96 northbound can leave the B994 earlier at the first roundabout before Kintore, taking the first left onto the B977/Gauchhill Road and following the route to its junction allowing access to the A96 northbound.
The closure will be set-up to ensure access to the Ardennan House Hotel and nursery.
Inverurie traffic (from 7.45pm to 6am)
Traffic from Inverurie that would normally access the A96 via Inverurie Roundabout can continue on the B993 Elphinstone Road to the next roundabout, turning right onto St. James’s Place and following the road to the next junction.
Traffic can then turn left and follow the High Street/B9001 to the next roundabout at Market Place, taking the first left onto West High Street and continuing to the next mini roundabout. At the roundabout they can take the 2nd exit onto the B9170 Blackhall Road and follow the route to Blackhall Roundabout where they can rejoin the A96.
Traffic that would normally access Inverurie via the B993 can follow this route in reverse.
The closure will be set-up to ensure access and exits from the BP garage and Mill Road.
All work is scheduled to be completed by 6.30am on Saturday 11th July.
Please be aware that there may be delays of up to three minutes when the overnight convoy is in place.
The diversion routes for B993 traffic will add up to eleven minutes additional journey time.
The resurfacing will benefit nearly 18,500 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
