A96 Burn Of Lipsden | Resurfacing And Kerb Replacement Works

Burn Of Lipsden
13th of July 2026, 9:00am to 22nd of August 2026, 6:30am

Amey is currently undertaking surfacing improvements and kerb replacement works on the A96 between Colpy and Huntly at Burn of Lipsden until Saturday 22nd August.

The £310,000 project, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will take place across 591 metres of carriageway, from 481 metres north of the Broomhill Farm access to 170 metres south of the Brideswell/Drumblade junction.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the essential works will be carried out under a programme of temporary traffic lights and overnight road closures.

Due to the kerb height and reduced carriageway width, temporary traffic lights will remain in operation 24/7 for the duration of the works.

Details are as follows:

Phase One
Monday 13th July to Tuesday 11th August.

Works will take place between 9.15am and 6pm with traffic managed by temporary traffic lights.

Phase Two

Tuesday 11th August to Saturday 22nd August.

Overnight road closures between 7.30pm and 6.30am.

There will be no overnight closure on Friday 14th August and Saturday 15th August.

Diversion details:
Traffic heading northbound will be diverted via the A920 at Colpy, heading east and turning left at Wartle onto the B9001 then continuing to Bogniebrae and turning left onto the A97.

Southbound traffic can follow the same route in reverse.

Please note that the diversion route will add up to 25 minutes additional journey time.

Local access will be maintained and can be accessed via the property side of the closed junction.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained during the road closure.

The resurfacing will create a smoother ride for the 8,000 road users who travel the route each day and reduce the need for ongoing maintenance.

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
