A96 Between West Of Lhanbryde and Nairn | Essential Woodland Management

A96 Between West Of Lhanbryde and Nairn

Amey is undertaking essential woodland management at varying locations on the A96 between west of Lhanbryde and Nairn from Monday 15th December to Friday 16th January 2026.

The essential maintenance, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will trim and remove areas of woodland adjacent to the A96 for the safety of the travelling public and to improve driver visibility.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance will be carried out under a rolling programme of temporary traffic lights between 9.30am and 3.30pm on the A96, along with layby closures and bus stop closures.

The rolling programme is scheduled to take place as follows:

Monday 15th December – From Elgin Travel Lodge layby to the A96 junction with the B9013 (east of Elgin). There will also be temporary traffic lights on the B9013. The Elgin Travel Lodge layby and footway on the eastbound verge will be closed.

Tuesday 16th to Friday 18th December – From the junction with the B9013, west of Elgin, to approximately 0.8 kilometres towards Elgin. Newton House bus stop, layby and adjacent footway will also be closed for the duration of works.

Monday 19th December – At Alves, from 1.2 kilometres to 0.7 kilometres west of the junction with the B9013.

Monday 5th January – From 300 metres east of Findhorn Roundabout. The adjacent footway will be closed.

Tuesday 6th to Wednesday 7th January 2026 – Feddan Farm and Wester Hardmuir Layby. The layby will be closed for the duration of works.

Thursday 8th to Friday 16th January 2026 – On the A96 for 400 metres east from the junction with Forres Road in Auldearn.

Thursday 8th to Friday 16th January 2026 – On the A96 Forres Road in Nairn for 500 metres to east of the overhead railway bridge near the A939.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
