A95 West of Keith | Surfacing Improvements
Amey is undertaking surfacing improvements on a section of the A95 located approximately 1.5 kilometres west of Keith between Sunday 15th March and Wednesday 25th March.
The £300,000 project, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will resurface approximately 590 metres of the A95 carriageway.
The resurfacing work will take place between 1 kilometre west of the layby located to the west of Keith and 1.4 kilometres east of Rosarie.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance will be carried out in two phases and will involve a combination of overnight closures and a full extended weekend closure of the A95.
Phase 1 – Sunday 15th March to Friday 20th March
Overnight road closure between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night.
Daytime temporary traffic lights will also be in position between 6.30am and 7.30pm.
Phase 2 – Friday 20th March to Wednesday 25th March
Full extended weekend closure between 7.30pm on Friday 20th March and 6.30am on Wednesday 25th March.
The following diversion route will be in place during both closures.
Westbound traffic can turn right onto the A96 at Haughs Road outside Keith. They can then follow the route to Fochabers and take the second exit at Fochabers East Roundabout to continue on the A96 towards Inverness/Elgin. At Coull Brae Roundabout they can then take the first exit onto the B9015 and follow the route to Rothes. At the roundabout they can take the first exit onto the A941 (also signposted for A95/Perth) and follow this route to rejoin the A95 at Craigellachie. Eastbound traffic can follow the above route in reverse.
The diversion route from when travelling from Keith to Rothes will add up to 20 minutes additional journey time. The entire diversion routes when travelling from Keith to Mulben will add up to 32 minutes additional journey time.
The resurfacing will benefit more than 2,200 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.
All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
