A95 From Ballindalloch to Mulben | Overnight Essential Woodland Managment
Amey is undertaking the essential removal of dangerous and diseased trees on the A95 between Ballindalloch and Mulben from Monday 13th April to Wednesday 20th May.
The essential woodland management, which Amey is carrying out on behalf of Transport Scotland, will help combat the effects of Ash Dieback along the north east trunk road network. Tree felling and vegetation clearance works will also take place.
Work will take place on the A95 from Ballindalloch to approximately 2.2km southwest of Mulben.
This work will help improve the safety of the A95 carriageway by reducing the risk that the diseased trees pose to road users.
Once the Ash Dieback fungus infects a tree, the dead or dying branches can become brittle and fall. The trees then pose a risk of collapsing, presenting an immediate danger to the surrounding area.
In these cases they need to be managed carefully and sometimes removed, especially near roads, paths or buildings.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the work will be carried out under overnight road closures, as follows:
Monday 13th April to Monday 11th May (7.30pm to 6.30am): Overnight closures of both carriageways of the A95 between Chivas Brothers Glentauchers Distillery and Craigellachie (Including Auchlunkart and Maggieknockater).
Diversion
A95 northbound traffic from Keith can follow the A96 north of Fochabers. At Fochabers, take the B9015 southbound through Rothes, and continue on the A941 before rejoining the A95 at Craigellachie. A95 southbound traffic can follow the above route in reverse through Rothes.
Please note the diversion route will add up to 20 minutes additional journey time.
Tuesday 12th May to Wednesday 20th May (7.30pm to 6.30am): Overnight closures of both carriageways of the A95 between Craigellachie and Ballindalloch (Including Marypark).
Diversion
A95 southbound traffic from Craigellachie can take the A941 south to Dufftown. Follow the B9009 to Auchbreck, then turn north onto the B9008 towards Ballindalloch to rejoin the A95. Northbound traffic can follow the above route in reverse.
Please note the diversion route will add up to 10 minutes additional journey time.
To minimise disruption and ease pressure on diversion routes across all overnight closures, traffic will be released through the closure at 10pm, 12am, 2am and 4am.
We have also established an access system specifically for residents to ensure they can reach their properties outside of the designated amnesty windows, providing access for local residents during all overnight closures.
Residents requiring access into the closure will be able to approach and a member of staff will escort them to their property.
There will also be a button push system in place that will be signposted on the roadside adjacent or in the immediate area of any properties within a closure. This will connect to the traffic management team, who will retrieve you at the call point and escort you out of the closure, providing safe exit.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
