A92 Westbound at Cardenden | Surfacing Improvements

Cardenden
23rd of October 2025, 7:30pm to 28th of October 2025, 6:30am

Amey is undertaking surfacing improvements on the A92 westbound at Cardenden in Fife from Thursday 23rd October to Tuesday 28th October.

The essential maintenance, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will resurface approximately 1350 metres of the A92 westbound carriageway.

Work will take place between two kilometres west of Chapel Junction at Kirkcaldy and 80 metres before the A92 overbridge near Cardenden.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the work will take place under a contraflow system.

Works are due to be undertaken under a contraflow between 7.30pm on Friday 24th October and 7.30pm on Monday 27th October 2025.

There will be lane closures between 7.30pm on Thursday 23rd October and 7.30pm on Friday 24th October to set up the traffic management. There will be further lane closures between 7:30pm on Monday 27th October and 6.30am on Tuesday 28th October to stand down the contraflow.

The Lochgelly southbound off slip road will be closed during the contraflow. Traffic wishing to leave the A92 should continue to Cowdenbeath and return northbound to leave at the Lochgelly northbound off slip road.

All work is scheduled to be completed by 6.30am on Tuesday 28th October.

Please be aware that there may be delays of up to 15 minutes when the contraflow is in place.

The resurfacing will benefit more than 48,400 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
