A92 Marywell-Portlethan | Resurfacing

A92 Marywell/Portlethan
25th of August 2025, 7:30pm to 5th of September 2025, 6:00am

Amey is undertaking two resurfacing schemes on the southbound A92 at Marywell and Portlethen from Monday 25th August to Friday 5th September. These two schemes will be completed together to minimise disruption for residents, businesses and travelling public.

The schemes will improve the A92 southbound carriageway at the Findon Junction including the on and off slip roads as well as a further section of the mainline between Findon Junction and south of the Cookston Road underpass.

The over £1.2 million worth of improvements, which Amey is carrying out on behalf of Transport Scotland, will improve the road surface for a smoother ride and reduce the need for ongoing maintenance for over 13,536 daily road users.

Work will take place under contraflow between 4am on Wednesday 27th August and 7.30pm on Thursday 4th September 2025.

There will be lane closures in place between 7.30pm on Monday 25th August and 4am on Wednesday 27th August, and between 7.30pm on Thursday 4th September and 6.30am on Friday 5th September, to stand up and down the contraflow.

The following will be closed during the contraflow with diversions in place:

• A92 Charleston southbound on slip road - through traffic from Aberdeen will follow the A956 to the A90 Aberdeen Western Peripheral Road and continue south to Stonehaven.

• A92 Findon (Marywell/Nigg) southbound on and off slip roads - Traffic wishing to leave the A92 will continue to Badentoy and return on the northbound carriageway to exit at the Findon (Marywell/Nigg) northbound off slip road. Traffic wishing to join the A92 will follow Cookston Road and Muirend Road to join the southbound A92 at Badentoy.

There will also be restrictions on the Hillside Junction within the contraflow. Traffic wishing to travel south from Hillside will follow the A92 north and exit at Findon Junction, then continue onto Cookston Road and Muirend Road to join the southbound A92. Traffic from Aberdeen wishing to enter Hillside will continue south to Badentoy Junction and return north to enter from the northbound carriageway.

Between midnight and 4am on Wednesday 27th August, the A92 northbound will be closed at Stonehaven. Traffic will be diverted via the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Road.

All diversions add between 2 and 4 minutes to journey times.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
