Between the B979 on slip and Cowie Bridge
27th of October 2026, 7:30pm to 12th of November 2026, 6:30am

Amey is undertaking surfacing improvements on the A90 southbound between the B979 on slip and Cowie Bridge, north of Stonehaven, from Tuesday 27th October to Thursday 12th November.

The £650,000 project, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will resurface approximately 1,400 metres of the southbound carriageway.

A92 to A90 north of Stonehaven

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the essential works will be carried out under a programme of slip road closures, overnight convoy working and lane restrictions.

The A90 southbound on slip will be closed between 7.30pm on Friday 30th October and 6.30am on Monday 2nd November.
Following this, the on slip will be closed overnight between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night until the morning of Thursday 12th November.

During the closures, the following diversion will be in place:

Traffic will be diverted via the A956 Fastlink eastbound to Charlestown Interchange, before joining the A92 southbound and rejoining the A90 at Stonehaven.

Please be aware that the diversion route may add up to seven minutes additional journey time.

The AWPR northbound and southbound access into Stonehaven from the A92 will remain open throughout the works.

For traffic travelling southbound on the AWPR, please exit at Cleanhill Roundabout and follow the A956 via Charleston Flyover to rejoin the A92 southbound.

Daytime lane restrictions on the A90 southbound will also be in place between Tuesday 27th October and Thursday 12th November. Overnight convoy working will also be in place throughout the works.

There will be no works on the nights of Friday 6th or Saturday 7th November.

These works will benefit more than 7,900 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
