A90 Southbound Near Laurencekirk | Overnight Resurfacing
Amey is undertaking overnight surfacing improvements on the A90 southbound near Laurencekirk from Thursday 19th February to Friday 27th February.
The work, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will resurface two junctions on the A90 southbound at Laurencekirk.
Work will firstly take place at the B9120 junction, including the right hand turning lane and left hand off slip, followed by the A937 junction, including the left hand off slip.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance will be carried out under overnight convoy on the A90 southbound between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night. There will be no overnight work on Friday 20th February and Saturday 21st February.
During this time there will be a need to close both junctions, one at a time, to carry out the work safely. There will also be a lane one closure on the A90 southbound on Friday 20th February between 6.30am and 7.30pm to allow for the cooling of deeper sections of treatment.
During the junction closures the following diversion routes will be in place:
Closure of B9120 Junction on A90 southbound: Traffic can exit the A90 southbound at the junction for the A937 (Montrose/Arbroath) and follow the route to Montrose. Traffic can then take the A92 northbound and follow the route to the B9120 junction for Laurencekirk.
Closure of A937 Junction on A90 southbound: Traffic can continue on the A90 southbound and exit at the B974 junction for Marykirk. They can follow the route to Marykirk then turn left to rejoin the A937.
All work is scheduled to be completed by 6.30am on Friday 27th February.
Please be aware that there may be delays of up to six minutes when the overnight convoy is in place.
The diversion routes will add up to 32 minutes additional journey time.
The resurfacing will benefit more than 18,600 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.
All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
