A90 North of Peterhead | Overnight Surfacing Improvements
Amey is undertaking overnight surfacing improvements on the A90 to the north of Peterhead from Sunday 7th December to Friday 19th December.
Resurfacing of the A90, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will take place approximately one kilometre north of Peterhead, between the Inverugie/Rora junction and Lunderton Cottage.
Resurfacing will also be carried out at Balmoor Bridge (also known as Inverugie Bridge) in addition to the carriageway works.
The carriageway and bridge resurfacing is being carried out simultaneously to minimise disruption for residents, businesses and the travelling public.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the work will be undertaken using overnight closures of the A90 in both directions between 7.30pm and 6.30am. The road will be closed from before Balmoor Bridge to Lunderton Cottage.
There will be no overnight work on Saturday 13th December and the road will be fully open to traffic. All work is scheduled to be completed by 6:30am on Friday 19th December.
The following diversion routes will be in place during the overnight closures.
Northbound traffic can exit the A90 at Howe o’Buchan Roundabout at Peterhead by taking the exit onto the A950 Longside Road and following the route as far as Mintlaw. Traffic can then turn right at The Square onto the A952 North Street and proceed northbound to re-join the A90 at Cortes Junction. Southbound traffic can follow the same route in reverse.
The diversion route will require three minutes additional journey time.
The resurfacing will benefit more than 5,900 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
