A90 Kingsway in Dundee | Traffic Signal Upgrade

Forfar Road Junction
5th of January 2026, 7:30pm to 23rd of January 2026, 6:30am

Amey is undertaking overnight work to upgrade traffic signals at the Forfar Road junction on the A90 Kingsway in Dundee between Monday 5th January and Friday 23rd January 2026.

The existing traffic lights are approaching the end of their working life and the new system, which Amey is installing on behalf of Transport Scotland, will ensure continued road safety by delivering improved reliability and reduced maintenance requirements for several years.

While the signal timings will largely remain the same, adjustments will be made where possible to optimise traffic flow through the junction.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the work will be undertaken using overnight lane restrictions on weeknights only between 7.30pm and 6.30am.

Temporary traffic lights will be installed overnight on Monday 5th January and Tuesday 6th January in order to keep traffic flowing during the works.

On Tuesday 6th January there will be a full overnight closure of the junction from the A90 Kingsway to Forfar Road south (leading to Dura Street/Albert Street). Traffic will be diverted via the A972 Kingsway East to Pitkerro Road and then Clepington Road for local access to Forfar Road.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
