A90 Kingsway In Dundee | Overnight Closures

UPDATE (04/09/2026): Overnight Road Closures

Amey is undertaking overnight work on the A90 Kingsway in Dundee between Monday 14th September and Saturday 19th September to reinstall steps on the Strathmartine Road and Old Glamis Road footbridges.

There will be full overnight closures of the A90 Kingsway in both directions between Strathmartine Roundabout and Old Glamis Road Roundabout.

The overnight closures will be in place from 7.30pm to 6.30am on weekday nights from Monday 14th September to Friday 18th September (Closures lifted by 6.30am on Saturday 19th September).

The following diversions will be in place during the road closures.

A90 westbound traffic towards Dundee can take the third exit at Swallow Roundabout onto the A85, following the route towards the Tay Road Bridge. In Dundee city centre traffic can turn right onto the A991 and follow the route along East Dock Street and Broughty Ferry Road, taking a left turn onto Greendykes Road. Traffic can then take the first exit at Scott Fyffe Roundabout onto the A972 Kingsway East to rejoin the A90.

Eastbound traffic from the A90 Forfar Road can follow the route in reverse.

Diversions for local traffic will also be in place via Gilburn Road and Park Road.

Amey is undertaking overnight work to reinstate Old Glamis Road footbridge on the A90 Kingsway in Dundee between Monday 17th August and Saturday 29th August.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, there will be full overnight closures of the A90 Kingsway in both directions between Strathmartine Roundabout and Old Glamis Road Roundabout.

The overnight closures will be in place from 7.30pm to 6.30am on weekday nights between Monday 17th August and Saturday 29th August.

The following diversions will be in place during the road closures.

The Strathmartine Road and Old Glamis Road footbridges were removed in June 2025 for a major refurbishment programme to ensure the 41-year-old structures continue to operate safely and efficiently.

The refurbishment, which Amey undertook on behalf of Transport Scotland, has included:

Waterproofing and resurfacing of the bridge decks;
Refurbished ramps and main spans;
Replacement of pedestrian parapets;
Concrete repairs to piers and crossheads, including installation of cathodic corrosion protection;
Strengthening of existing concrete edge beams;
Replacement of bridge bearings;
Drainage improvements.
Strathmartine Road footbridge has been reinstalled on site. However, neither footbridge will be immediately available for public use following reinstatement while final works are completed. Pedestrians can continue to use two temporary pedestrian crossings that were constructed as alternative crossing points to maintain safe access across the A90 Kingsway.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of these works, there is likely to be some noise associated with them. Every effort will be made to programme operations and minimise disruption to nearby residents where possible.
