A90 Fordoun | Surfacing Improvements
Amey is undertaking overnight surfacing improvements on the A90 at Fordoun in two phases between Thursday 5th June and Friday 27th June.
The £281,000 scheme, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will resurface approximately 517 metres of the A90 northbound carriageway.
Work will take place between 200 metres south of the B967 Arbuthnott Junction and 200 metres north of the Fordoun Junction.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance will be carried out under overnight convoy between 7.30pm and 6.30am from Thursday 5th June to Sunday 15th June.
There will be no overnight works on Friday 6th June and Saturday 7th June, and Friday 13th June and Saturday 14th June.
This phase of the convoy work is scheduled to be completed by 6.30am on Monday 16th June.
There will then be two additional nights of convoy working on Wednesday 25th June and Thursday 26th June, with traffic management removed by 6.30am on Friday 27th June.
During the overnight works there will be no access between Springbank Terrace and the A90. There will also be no access to and from the northbound A90 and the B967.
Signed diversions will be in place as follows:
Southbound A90 traffic for Fordoun can continue south to Stracathro and return north, leaving the A90 at the A937 at Laurencekirk and then turning left onto the B9120 and then right onto the B966, continuing to reach Fordoun via Old Aberdeen Road.
Northbound A90 traffic for Fordoun can continue north and leave at the Drumlithie Junction, following Station Road and Glenbervie Road to Auchenblae, then turning left onto the B966 and continuing to reach Fordoun via Old Aberdeen Road.
Northbound traffic for the B967 can continue on the A90 to Stonehaven and return south to access the junction from the southbound carriageway. Traffic from the B967 wishing to travel north can join the southbound carriageway to Stracathro and return north.
The resurfacing will benefit more than 11,400 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
