A9 Strathsteven Bridge | Essential Maintenance
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out essential maintenance work on the A9 Strathsteven Bridge, approximately 2 miles northeast of Golspie. The works will involve structural investigation, repairs to defective concrete, replacing the bridge deck expansion joints and resurfacing the road.
This essential maintenance work is scheduled to commence on Monday 26 May at 8pm and will be completed by Monday 30 June at 6am.
To protect both road users and the workforce, this single carriageway section of the A9 will be reduced to one lane over the bridge. Two-way temporary traffic lights will be in place 24 hours a day for the full duration of the works. For some overnight works, a 10mph convoy traffic management system will be required to safely escort road users through the site.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said, “These works are being carried out to maintain Strathsteven Bridge and ensure that further, more extensive repairs are avoided in later years.
“We will do everything possible to complete this essential maintenance as quickly and safely as possible. We thank all road users and the local community for their patience in advance.
“Please plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information and leave some extra time to complete journeys.”
