A9 Spittal Wind Farm | Resurfacing

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out essential road surfacing improvements at two locations on the A9 at Spittal Wind Farm and south of Bridge of Tacher, with works set to begin on Monday 5 October 2026.

The £650,000 project will see almost 2km of the A9 resurfaced. Works will be carried out between 07:00 and 19:00, with all resurfacing expected to be completed by 19:00 on Friday 30 October, subject to weather conditions.

Works near Spittal Wind Farm will begin on Monday 5 October and are expected to be completed on Tuesday 6 October.

Works south of the Bridge of Tacher will begin on Wednesday 7 October and are expected to be completed by Friday 30 October. No works will take place on Saturdays or Sundays.

To protect the workforce and road users, a lane closure with convoy system will be in place on the A9 at each location during working hours.

The lane closure and convoy system will be removed outside of working hours. However, a 30mph speed restriction and warning signage will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary road surface.

Access through the works sites for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

The works are weather dependent and any significant changes or delays to the programme will be advertised.
