A9 South Of Luncarty | Carriageway Improvements
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out essential improvement works on the southbound on slip just south of Luncarty on the A9, from Sunday 11 January 2026.
These carriageway improvements will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am, and are expected to be completed by the morning of Thursday 15 January, subject to weather.
To ensure the safety of both the workforce and members of the public, this slip road and one lane of the A9 will be closed during working hours with a signed diversion in place. Traffic joining the A9 southbound at Luncarty will be diverted along the B9099, onto the A9 northbound carriageway to the Stanley Junction then back onto the A9 southbound towards Luncarty. There will also be a lane closure with two way temporary traffic lights controlling the traffic flow at the top of the on-slip along the B9099 main road into Luncarty.
The road will be reopened outwith working hours, however, speed restrictions will remain in place during the day as there will be no road markings and traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Access through the works sites for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These works will fix existing defects in the road surface on this section of the A9 to improve driving conditions.
“We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements. To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
