A9 South Of Dalnaspidal | Safety Barrier Improvements
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out a four-week programme of works to replace and extend the safety barrier on the northbound carriageway of the A9 south of Dalnaspidal from Monday 19 October.
Works will be carried out between the hours of 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and are expected to last for up to four weeks. No works are currently planned over weekends, however traffic management will remain in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until works are completed as excavations and incomplete works within the verge could present a potential hazard to road users.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, lane 2 on the northbound carriageway will be closed with a reduced speed limit in place.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Kevin McKechnie, BEAR Scotland’s North West Strategic Road Safety Manager said: "Following a review by our road safety engineers, a section of safety barrier on the A9 south of Dalnaspidal will be upgraded and extended.
“The improvement will provide additional protection from roadside hazards and replace sections of safety barrier that are reaching the end of their service life.
“We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding while our teams carry out these essential works and ask that temporary speed limits are complied with to ensure our workers can go home safely to their families each day.”
