A9 Northbound Off Slip For Gleneagles | Footpath Resurfacing
Traffic Management Reduction (14/08/2026)
Please be aware that following continued progress on footpath resurfacing works, traffic management has been removed from the main A9 trunk road and reduced to a single lane closure on the A9 northbound off slip to the A823 for Gleneagles.
We will continue to explore all reasonable opportunities to expedite these works and shorten the programme wherever possible.
LANE CLOSURE REMOVAL: Footpath resurfacing near Loaninghead Petrol Station at the A9 northbound off slip to the A823 for Gleneagles.
A 24/7 lane one restriction is currently in place on the A9 northbound carriageway and the A9 northbound off slip to the A823.
Please be aware that, in order to minimise disruption during the Senior Open at Gleneagles (23rd–26th July), the lane closure will be temporarily removed on the evening of Wednesday 22nd July and reinstated on the morning of Monday 27th July.
This will help reduce potential traffic impacts associated with the event.
Amey is currently undertaking improvements to a section of footpath near Loaninghead Petrol Station at the A9 northbound off slip to the A823 for Gleneagles.
The essential maintenance, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will involve resurfacing of the footpath between Drumlochy Farm and the junction of the A9 northbound off slip with the A823.
The existing footpath surface has deteriorated over time, and the improvements will provide a safer and more comfortable route for pedestrians, including those accessing nearby businesses and local amenities.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the work will be carried out under a 24/7 lane one closure on the A9 northbound carriageway and the A9 northbound off slip to the A823. There will also be a total closure of the footpath during the works.
The traffic management is currently scheduled to remain in place until Friday 30th October while work is completed.
