UPDATE (10/02/25): Due a poor weather forecast, improvements on the A9 north of Pitlochry are cancelled tonight and are now due to be completed on the morning of Friday 14 February. Please see new dates in red below.
UPDATE (07/02/25): Due to changes to the programme of works, improvements on the A9 north of Pitlochry are now due to be completed on the morning of Thursday 13 February.
UPDATE (05/02/25): Due to delays caused by recent weather conditions, works on the A9 north of Pitlochry is now due to be completed on the morning of Friday 14 February.
UPDATE (03/02/25): Due to the poor weather forecast, works on the A9 north of Pitlochry will not go ahead tonight (Monday 3 February). Works will resume on Tuesday 4 February from 7pm, weather permitting.
UPDATE (30/01/25): Due to the poor weather forecast, works on the A9 north of Pitlochry will not go ahead tonight or tomorrow (30 and 31 January). Works will resume on Sunday 2 February from 7pm.
BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to start essential resurfacing improvements on the A9 single carriageway between the Foss Road Junction and the Loch Faskally Bridge to the north of Pitlochry.
Works will start at 7pm on Sunday 26 January and are due to be completed by 6am on the morning of Thursday 13 February.
To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, temporary traffic lights will be implemented each night with a convoy system in place to control traffic through the works site. Traffic lights will also be placed at the Clunie/Foss Junction.
The road will be open outwith working hours and access through the works site for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This crucial surfacing project on the A9 between Foss Road and Loch Faskally will fix existing defects and significantly enhance the driving experience for all road users.
“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We are grateful to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.
“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
