A9 North of Perth | Drainage and Surfacing Works
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out essential road improvements on 1km of the northbound A9 dual carriageway north of Perth, including the on and off-slip roads.
Overnight drainage work are set to take place on Sunday 28 September for one night under slip-road closures only.
Overnight resurfacing works will take place north of Inveralmond from the evening of Sunday 5 October until the morning of Wednesday 8 October and the night of Friday 10 October under temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system between 7pm and 6am.
Overnight resurfacing will then take place at Luncarty from the evening of Sunday 12 October until the morning of Saturday 25 October. Temporary traffic lights will be in place for the duration of the works and a 10mph convoy system between 7pm and 6am will be in place on the dual carriageway. The on and off-slip roads at Luncarty will also be closed overnight during this phase of works. All traffic management will be removed during the weekends.
To protect road users and road workers, the northbound on and off-slip roads will be closed for the duration of the works. A signed diversion will be in place.
For those looking to leave the A9 northbound at Luncarty off-slip should continue on the A9 until the B9099 Stanley Junction, turn left at the end of the slip-road, take the first right onto the road running paralell with the A9 southbound, traffic can then continue onto Luncarty or Stanley.
For the those looking to join the A9 northbound at Luncarty on-slip will instead join the A9 southbound until the A9294 junction where traffic should leave the A9, take the third exit on the roundabout, cross the overbridge, at the next roundabout and take the third exit onto the A9 on-slip where the journey will resume.
The junction between the B9099 and B8063 side roads will be open and will be controlled by a traffic management operative throughout all works.
Outwith working hours, the temporary traffic management will be removed however, speed restrictions of 30mph will remain in place during the day as there will be no road markings and traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Access through the works sites for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These works will fix the existing defects and drainage problems in this area and enhance the driving experience for all motorists. Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.
“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
