A9 North of Achalone Junction | Resurfacing Works

A9 North of Achalone Junction
7th of April 2026, 7:00am to 20th of April 2026, 7:00pm

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out essential carriageway resurfacing works on the A9 north of Achalone Junction, from Tuesday 7 April 2026.

The works are programmed to take place between 07:00 and 19:00 for ten days and will complete on Monday 20 April. No works will take place on Saturday or Sundays.

To ensure the safety of all road users, a lane closure with convoy will be in place during working hours. Outside of these hours, the road will remain open with a 30mph speed restriction in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

The works will see 1.5 km of the carriageway resurfaced, improving road safety and providing a smoother, more durable surface.

Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Planned Maintenance Manager, said: “The resurfacing project on the A9 will address existing defects and significantly improve conditions for all road users.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience while these essential improvements are carried out. We encourage road users to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA-approved methods.

All works are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of adverse conditions.
