A9 Near Georgemas | Resurfacing Works

A9 Georgemas
12th of October 2025, 7:00pm to 21st of October 2025, 6:00am

BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out overnight surfacing works at the A9 junction in Roadside, a village located just north of Georgemas, from Sunday 12 October 2025.

Works will take place for seven nights between the hours of 7pm and 6am and are anticipated to be completed on the morning of Tuesday 21 October.  No works will be carried out on Friday and Saturday.

Due to restricted road widths on this section of the A9, the carriageway will be closed in both directions during working hours to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public.

During closure times, amnesties will take place at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 2am and 4am will allow vehicles to be escorted through the site.

Emergency service vehicles will be allowed to pass through the site at all times.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These maintenance works on the A9 near Georgemas will help to address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.

“The overnight closures are essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists.

“We thank the local community and road users in advance for their patience while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
