A9 Near Drumochter | Wall Repairs
UPDATE (13/03/2026): Due to a delay with our subcontractor, wall repairs on the A9 at Drumochter will now begin on Tuesday 17 March.
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out essential repairs on two retaining walls alongside the A9 at Drumochter, near General Wade Stone, from Tuesday 17 March.
Works will be carried out between the hours of 7am and 7pm and are expected to be fully completed Wednesday 17 June.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, a southbound lane closure will be in place for the duration of the works. In addition, a barrier will be installed within the closure to provide additional protection to the scaffold and workforce.
Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained for the full duration of the works.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the retaining wall repairs to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Richard Cook, BEAR Scotland’s North West Bridges Manager said: “This essential retaining wall repair work on two structures on the A9 near Drumochter will maintain the structural integrity of the walls and help ensure the continued safe operation of the trunk road network.
“Our teams will carry out these works efficiently, with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete these improvements.”
