A9 Near Carrbridge | Bridge Investigation Works

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out essential investigation works on a bridge carrying the A9 carriageway over the Network Rail Perth to Inverness line, 3.9miles west of Carrbridge.

Works will be carried out on two nights, Wednesday 24 and Friday 26 June, between the hours of 10pm and 6am and are expected to be completed by the morning of Saturday 27 June.

A lane closure will be in place on this section of the A9 to enable engineers to undertake essential inspections of the underside of the bridge using specialist equipment.

For the safety of both the workforce and travelling public, traffic will be managed under temporary two-way traffic lights, with the carriageway reduced to a single lane over the bridge during working hours. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Richard Cook, BEAR Scotland’s North West Bridges Manager, said: “This investigation will assess the condition of the bearings on the bridge by measuring their movement and rotation over time. The bearings are essential components that support the weight and movement of the bridge and this investigation will allow us to plan future maintenance works.
