A9 Milton of Leys Junctions | Drainage Improvement Works

A9 Milton of Leys
10th of November 2025, 7:30pm to 21st of November 2025, 6:00am

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be undertaking essential drainage improvement works on the southbound A9 trunk road at the Milton of Leys, or Bogbain, junction from Monday 10 November.

Works will be carried out between the hours of 7.30pm and 6am each night with works expected to be completed by Friday 21 November. No works are planned over the weekend.

In order to protect road users and the workforce, the southbound off and on slips at Milton of Leys (Bogbain) will be closed at times during the works with signed diversions in place.

From Monday 10 to Friday 14 November, the southbound off slip will be closed overnight. A signed diversion route will be in place for vehicles travelling south wishing to exit the A9 at Milton of Leys (Bogbain) junction. Traffic travelling south will be pre-warned to leave the A9 at the B9006 Culloden Road (Inshes) Junction and then via the B9006 and B9177 to Milton of Leys (Bogbain).

From Monday 17 to Friday 21 November, the southbound on slip will be closed overnight. Signs will be in place to divert vehicles wishing to access the southbound A9 at Milton of Leys (Bogbain) junction. Traffic will be redirected onto the B9177 and B9006, then will rejoin the southbound A9 at the B9006 Culloden Road (Inshes) junction.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s Northwest Unit Representative said; “These drainage improvement works will reduce the frequency and severity of flooding on the carriageway and provide a safer route for road users.”

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible. We have programmed these works to be carried out over night to reduce the impact on the travelling public, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these essential works.”

“We encourage road users to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
