A9 Dualling: Tay Crossing to Ballinluig Project | Temporary Realignments to Active Travel Routes

A9 Tay Crossing to Ballinluig
29th of June 2026, 12:00am to 29th of June 2026, 11:59pm

Pedestrians and cyclists are advised of upcoming changes to active travel routes along sections of the A9 between Dowally and Ballinluig, as part of the A9 Dualling: Tay Crossing to Ballinluig works.

Temporary realignments to existing active travel routes will be introduced in the area in phases from week commencing 29 June 2026. These works are required to maintain access while allowing earthworks and structures activities to be carried out safely within the verge.

During these works, pedestrians, cyclists and other users will be directed onto clearly signed routes which may, at times, be positioned closer to the A9 carriageway. Where this is necessary, routes will be segregated by cones or barriers for safety of users. In some locations short clearly signposted local diversions will be in place.

Cyclists should note that temporary route surfaces and conditions within the works area may not always be suitable for cycling and cyclists will be required to dismount where necessary. Advance signage will be provided where local diversions or changes to route conditions are required, including cyclist dismount signs, due to construction activities or plant movements.

The existing signed cyclist diversion route via National Cycle Network Route 77 (NCN77) between Dunkeld and Ballinluig will remain in place for cyclists travelling through the wider area during these works.

All efforts will be made to maintain a safe and accessible route for pedestrians at all times. Users are advised to follow signage and take extra care when travelling through these areas.

Road users are asked to approach the area with care and allow extra time for their journeys whilst these works are carried out. For live updates, please refer to the Traffic Scotland website.
