A9 Dualling: Tay Crossing To Ballinluig- Closure Of Rotmell Road Between Dunkeld And Dowally

Rotmell Road
22nd of June 2026, 12:00am to 30th of June 2027, 11:59pm

Road users are advised of an upcoming road closure on Rotmell Road between Dunkeld and the A9, as part of the A9 Dualling: Tay Crossing to Ballinluig works.

A full road closure will be in place on Rotmell Road affecting all traffic from Monday 22 June 2026 for a period of up to 12 months to safely facilitate construction of a retaining wall associated with the dualling works in this area.

From Monday 22 June 2026, there will be no access to or from the A9 onto Rotmell Road and traffic wishing to access the A9 will instead be diverted to the A923 Dunkeld Road and Dunkeld Road junction. Local and emergency access will be maintained for those based on Rotmell Road, but no other access will be available.

As a result of these works, the Regional Cycle Route 83 (RCR83) will be closed between the  C502 and A9 with the existing cycling diversion in place from Dunkeld using the National Cycle Network (NCN77) which is recommended for all cyclists. Existing signage at Dunkeld will remain in place to signpost users to this diversion. A safe pedestrian access route will be maintained through the working area at all times. Cyclists wishing to use the pedestrian access are asked to please dismount or alternatively use the NCN77 diversion.

Emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Please see map below depicting the various elements of the road closure and diversion route.
Road users are asked to approach the area with care and allow extra time for their journeys whilst these works are carried out. For live updates, please refer to the Traffic Scotland website.
