A9 Between Inveralmond and Blackford Junction | Lining and Stud

Between Inveralmond and Blackford Junction

Amey is undertaking overnight lining and stud improvements on key sections of the A9 between Inveralmond Roundabout and Blackford junction from Monday 2nd March to Wednesday 18th March.

This £255,000 project, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will renew road markings and studs along the route, significantly improving visibility and enhancing safety for all road users.

The works will take place on both the northbound and southbound carriageways between Inveralmond and Broxden, and on the southbound carriageway between Broxden and Blackford.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance will be carried out under overnight road closures between 7.30pm and 6.30am on weekdays.

The improvements will be carried out under the following work programme:

  • Monday 2nd March to Wednesday 4th March

Full A9 northbound closure between Broxden Roundabout and Inveralmond Roundabout.

  • Diversion for traffic travelling on the A9 northbound between Broxden Roundabout and Inveralmond Roundabout.

Traffic wishing to travel northbound to Inveralmond Roundabout from Broxden Roundabout can take the exit for Glasgow Road (A93) at Broxden Roundabout, continuing on to York Place, where traffic can turn left onto Caledonian Road for Barrack Street, followed by Dunkeld Road. At the roundabout traffic can take the first exit onto Crieff Road (A85) to Ruthvenfield Road, traffic and then take the third exit at the roundabout at Inveralmond industrial Estate, continuing onto Inveralmond Roundabout, where normal travel can be resumed.

  • Wednesday 4th March to Saturday 7th March

Full A9 southbound closure between Inveralmond Roundabout and Broxden Roundabout

  • Diversion route for traffic looking to travel southbound from Inveralmond Roundabout to Broxden Roundabout.
     

Traffic will be diverted from Inveralmond roundabout via Ruthvenfield Road Westbound, continuing onto the roundabout where traffic will take the first exit towards Crieff Road (A85), taking the second exit at the roundabout onto Dunkeld Road. Traffic can continue to Barrack Street then turn right for Caledonian Road followed by a right turn for York Place toward Glasgow Road (A93). Traffic will then continue on Glasgow Road until Broxden Roundabout in which they can resume southbound travel via the M90.

  • Sunday 8th March to Monday 9th March

Overnight convoy on A9 southbound carriageway between Broxden Roundabout (A93) and Crossgates Junction.

  • M90 Junction 10 northbound off slip will be closed.

Traffic will be diverted to Junction 11 where they can follow the A85 Dundee Road for Perth. Traffic can then take the left turn onto Queens Bridge and a further left turn onto Tay Street (A989) southbound, taking the first right onto Canal Street. This will lead to King Street where traffic will turn right, followed by a left on to County Place followed by York Place and continuing onto the A93 Glasgow Road where traffic will be able to join the convoy southbound on the A9 or resume travel as normal.

  • M90 Junction 10 southbound off slip will be closed.

Traffic will be diverted south to the M90 Junction 9 southbound off slip where they can turn and return on the M90 northbound to Junction 11, where they can exit and follow the A85 Dundee Road for Perth. Traffic can then take the left turn onto Queens Bridge and a further left turn onto Tay Street (A989) southbound taking the first right onto Canal Street. This will lead to King Street where traffic can turn right, followed by a left onto County Place followed by York Place then continuing onto Glasgow Rd (A93) where traffic will be able to join the convoy southbound on the A9 or resume travel as normal.

  • Monday 9th March to Wednesday 18th March

Overnight convoy on the A9 southbound carriageway between Crossgates Junction and Blackford South Junction.

  • Gleneagles southbound off slip will be closed.

Traffic traveling to Gleneagles will continue southbound on the A9, taking the B8033 southbound off slip, turning right towards Doune and gain access back onto the A9 northbound carriageway via the A9 northbound on slip from the B8033, where they will gain access to Gleneagle from the northbound off slip.

These essential works will improve the visibility of lining and studs on the carriageway and increase overall safety for more than 28,400 motorists who use the road each day.
