A9 between Dalwhinnie and Calvine | Carriageway Resurfacing
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out carriageway resurfacing at four locations on the A9 between Dalwhinnie and Calvine, starting on Monday 16 November.
Works will be carried out between 19:00 and 06:00 each working night and are expected to be completed by the morning of Friday 18 December, subject to weather. No works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, lane closures with temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. The works will be carried out in sections as follows:
A9 Dalwhinnie Junction Approaches: Lane closures with three-way temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in operation for seven nights, from Monday 16 November until the morning of Wednesday 25 November, 19:00 – 06:00.
A9 Layby 82 Southbound: Lane closures with two-way temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in operation for five nights, from Wednesday 25 November until the morning of Wednesday 2 December, 19:00 - 06:00.
A9 Dalnaspidal Single to Dual Transition: Lane closures with three-way temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in operation for six nights, from Wednesday 2 December until the morning of Thursday 10 December, 19:00 – 06:00.
A9 South of Dalnacardoch Lodge Northbound: A 24-hour lane closure will be in place for six nights, from Thursday 10 December until the morning of Friday 18 December, with a 10mph convoy system operating during working hours, 00:00 – 00:00.
Access for emergency services will be maintained for the duration of the works.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to help minimise disruption.
Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland's North West Design Manager, said: “These resurfacing improvements will address existing defects in the road surface and refresh road markings, improving the quality and safety of the route for road users.
“We have planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption as much as possible, while ensuring the safety of our workforce and those travelling.
“We thank road users and local communities for their patience and understanding while we complete these essential improvements.”
