A9 90 Allan Water Bridge, Dunblane | Bridge Deck Refurbishment
Amey, as the Operating Company of the Northeast Network Management Contract on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be undertaking a bridge deck refurbishment on the A9 90 Allan Water Bridge (E: 278424, N: 702706) near Dunblane.
The essential maintenance is required to maintain the safety and integrity of the bridge. Works will include expansion joint replacement, concrete repairs, carriageway and footway re-surfacing, deck re-waterproofing, replacement of kerbs and gully gratings and replacement of existing sub-surface drainage.
The works are programmed to commence on the 6th of November 2026 and last through to the 5th of February 2027. To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the work will be undertaken using 24/7 contraflow on the A9 as shown in Figures 1 and 2 attached to this email.
Southbound and northbound traffic will operate in a single lane in each direction across Allan Water Bridge. The northbound carriageway will be closed from 6th of November 2026 to 7th of December 2026, after which the contraflow arrangement will be switched to facilitate refurbishment of the opposite side of the structure, with the southbound carriageway closed from 4th of January 2027 to 5th of February 2027. During the festive period, the traffic management will be removed to avoid disruption and will be reinstalled in the new year to re-commence works.
Please note that all schemes are weather-dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. During these works, disruption is likely, and road users are asked to please plan their journeys in advance accordingly. Unfortunately, due to the nature of these works, it is likely that there will be an increase in noise levels. Please be assured that Amey is working to programme operations to minimise any disturbance as much as possible. The noisiest works will be undertaken during daytime hours.
