A898 Erskine Bridge | Overnight Resurfacing

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking overnight resurfacing work on the A898 Erskine Bridge from 8pm on Saturday 17th May until 6am on Sunday 18th May 2025. 

This work requires a full closure of the northbound carriageway of the A898 Erskine Bridge, with a signed diversion route in operation. 

Traffic will be directed to follow the diversion routes below: 

  • Motorway traffic will be diverted via the M898 northbound off-slip to the B815, A726, M898 southbound on-slip, M8 eastbound, M8 Kingston Bridge, M8 eastbound junction 17 off slip to Great Western Road, A82, where this diversion will end. 
  • Non-motorway traffic will be diverted via the A726 to the A8 Greenock Road, Inchinnan Road, Glebe Street, Glasgow Road, Renfrew Road, Shieldhall Road, Clyde Tunnel, Crow Road and Great Western Road, where this diversion will end. 
  • There will also be a closure of the Erskine Bridge southbound on-slip from the westbound Great Western Road and traffic will be diverted via Dunglass Roundabout, Great Western Road eastbound and the Erskine Bridge off-slip, where this diversion will end. 

Traffic travelling north on the M8 intending to use the northbound A898 Erskine Bridge are encouraged to follow an alternative route while these works are in place. 

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. 

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
