A87 Carrich Bridge | Electrical Works

A87 Carrich Bridge
5th of January 2026, 7:00am to 2nd of February 2026, 7:00pm

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out works to install an electrical duct on A87 Carrich Bridge (the approach viaduct to the east of the main Skye Bridge), from Monday 5 January 2026.

Works will be carried out between the hours of 7am and 7pm and are expected to last for approximately four weeks.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, there will be a 24-hour single lane closure controlled by traffic lights. These lights will be removed on Saturday afternoons and reinstated on Monday mornings. The layby at the old Toll House will be closed for the duration of the works.

All works are dependent on the weather and the existing condition of the structure, which will become clearer when the works start. As such, the programme of works is subject to change.

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These works have been planned to minimise disruption to road users and the local community as far as possible, however some delays are to be expected, especially during peak times.

“We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding while our teams carry out these essential works.”
