UPDATE (11/09/25): Due to the forecast for heavy rain, overnight surfacing on the A87 between Invergarry and Bun Loyne will not go ahead tonight (Thursday 11 September). Weather permitting, works will resume on Sunday 14 September.
BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to start surfacing improvements on the A87 between Invergarry and Bun Loyne from Wednesday 3 September.
Works will be carried out between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night and are expected to be completed by the morning of Wednesday 24 September.
Out with these hours, traffic management will be removed, however, a reduced speed limit may remain in place, when traffic is travelling over a temporary surface.
To protect the workforce and members of the travelling public, the A87 will be closed in both directions each working night after Tomdoun junction and Bun Loyne junction. During periods of closure, traffic will be diverted via the A82 and A887. Signage will be placed at Bun Loyne and Invergarry notifying of the closure, allowing traffic to use the diversion.
Public service buses and emergency services will be allowed through closures and should proceed to the manned closure points.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These surfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users. We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
