A86 Various Locations | Overnight Resurfacing

The project will see over 5 kilometres of carriageway resurfacing at various locations. Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am with all surfacing works anticipated to be completed by 6am on Monday 6th October, subject to weather conditions.
Phase 1 of the works will take place between Strathmashie and Ardverikie House, involving the resurfacing of approximately 2.5 kilometres of carriageway. This phase is scheduled to begin on Sunday 27 July at 7pm and will continue through to Wednesday 20 August at 6am.
Phase 2 will focus on the stretch between Laggan Dam and Roy Bridge, where approximately 2.8 kilometres of carriageway will be resurfaced. Works for this phase will commence on Wednesday 20 August at 7pm and are expected to conclude by Wednesday 1st October at 6am.
To protect roadworkers and motorists, there will be full road closures in place whilst work is being carried out. As there is no suitable diversion route for this section of the A86, vehicles will be held at either side of the work site until they can be safely escorted through the area during amnesty periods at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am. The A86 will be open outwith working hours to keep disruption to a minimum, with a speed restriction of 30mph in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

“The overnight closures are essential for the safety of road workers and motorists due to the narrow widths of the road at these locations. We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the work overnight and by providing timed amnesty periods for traffic to pass through.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
