BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out essential improvements on the A85 in the Glen Dochart area, between Auchlyne and Lochearnhead, from Monday 3rd November.
The works will be carried out at four locations:
The works at Glen Ogle Head and Lochearnhead (east of the A84 junction) will be undertaken using overnight road closures, while the works at Old Flax Mill and South of Lochearnhead will stay open with traffic lights and convoy systems utilised. Where an overnight road closure is required, hourly amnesty periods will be provided at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am and 5am. Waiting traffic will be safely escorted through the site under a 10mph convoy.
Works South of Lochearnhead to Glenogle will require two nights of road closure with amnesties on Thursday 27 November and Sunday 30 November. The A85 will be closed on these nights at the junction between the A84 and A85. Northbound traffic travelling east to Perth along the A84, and traffic travelling west from Perth heading south on the A84 will be able to do so as normal.
Traffic management measures will be removed out with working hours, however, speed restrictions will remain in place during the day until the works are completed.
Access through the works sites for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These works will help restore the condition of the road surface on this section of the A85, improving driving conditions.
“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.
“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
