A84 West of Buchany | Resurfacing
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out essential road resurfacing works on the A84, west of Buchany, from Sunday 21 June.
The works, which will improve the condition of the carriageway and make the road safer and smoother for road users, will take place between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night and are expected to be completed by 6am on Wednesday 24 June, subject to weather conditions.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, an overnight road closure will be in place on each of the three nights due to the restricted road widths at this location.
Hourly amnesties will be provided between 8pm and 5am. During these times, vehicles will be escorted safely through the works under a 10mph convoy, with the road reopening from 6am each day to help minimise disruption.
A 30mph speed limit will be in place during the course of the works, as traffic will be running over a temporary road surface with no road markings.
Two-way temporary traffic lights will also be in operation during the day on Monday 22 June, as the carriageway will be restricted to one lane. The lights will be manually controlled by traffic management operatives to help minimise disruption to road users.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders and access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Design Manager, said: “These essential resurfacing works will address defects in the existing road surface and improve the condition and safety of this section of the A84.
“The traffic management arrangements are necessary to protect both our workforce and road users while these works are carried out.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible. We thank road users and the local community for their patience while we complete these improvements.
“We encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
