A84 at Kincardine-in-menteith Primary School | Footway Improvements
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to start the next phase of footway improvements on the A84 near to Kincardine-in-Menteith Primary School. The work includes constructing new footways, resurfacing existing footways and installing new uncontrolled crossing points.
New signs have been successfully installed and the next phase includes the construction of two new footways with new uncontrolled crossing points, featuring dropped kerbs and tactile paving. The existing footways between the A84/A873 junction and the A84/Cuthil Brae junction will be resurfaced, with the narrowest sections being widened.
To further support safer active travel, Stirling Council has proposed new bus shelters throughout the area. We will endevour to coordinate traffic management with the council where possible to reduce disruption to the traveling public.
Works will take place between 9.30am and 4pm from Tuesday 5 May and will be completed on the afternoon of Friday 29 May. No work will take place on Saturdays or Sundays.
For the safety of the roadworkers and road users, temporary traffic lights will be in place during working hours.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the footway works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Kevin McKechnie, BEAR Scotland’s North West Road Safety Manager said: “The footway improvements are part of a package of works to improve road user safety on the A84. The new footways and crossing points will provide safer pedestrian access to and from bus stops and local facilities, including Kincardine-in-Menteith Primary School and Camphill, Blair Drummond.”
“Our teams will carry out these works as safely as they can. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.”
