A835 Inchbae Bridge | Bridge Maintenance Works
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland are set to carry out essential bridge maintenance works on the A835 Inchbae Bridge near Garve, from Monday 29 September for approximately seven weeks, subject to weather.
Works involve concrete repairs, replacement of bridge deck waterproofing, road surfacing, road markings and installation of new expansion joints.
To minimise disruption at the work site, the A835 carriageway will be temporarily widened to avoid the need for road closures or the use of diversion routes.
Works will be carried out between the hours of 8am and 6pm each day under 24 hour two-way traffic lights.
For the safety of workers and road users, a 30-mph speed limit will be in place for the duration of the works. Some instances of convoy traffic management, with a 10mph speed limit, may also be required to provide extra protection to the workforce.
Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This refurbishment project will see Inchbae Bridge on the A835 refurbished with new waterproofing, surfacing and expansion joints. These upgrades, in addition to the concrete repair scheme completed last year, will allow the bridge to operate safely for years to come”.
“Our teams will carry out these works with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.”
