A830 River Lochy In Fort William | Bridge Investigation Works
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out investigation works on two bridges near the River Lochy in Fort William from Sunday 28 June to Friday 3 July.
Engineers will undertake essential investigations on the underside of two bridges in the area:
Bridge connecting Abrach Road to Camanachd Crescent: Sunday 28 June between 10pm and 6am, then Friday 3 July between 8am and 4pm – the pathway will be narrowed to maintain access for pedestrians, however no vehicles will be able to access the bridge.
A830 across River Lochy: Between the hours of 10pm and 6am from Monday 29 June to the morning of Thursday 2 July - the carriageway will be reduced to a single lane over the bridge with three-way traffic lights for the duration of the works.
All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
The investigation on the bridge between Abrach Road to Camanachd Crescent is not expected to create noise disruption for residents.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Richard Cook, BEAR Scotland’s North West Bridges Manager, said: “These investigations will assess the condition of the bearings on the bridges by measuring their movement and rotation over time. The bearings are essential components that support the weight and movement of the bridges and these investigations will allow us to plan future maintenance works.
“Our teams will carry out these works quickly, with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the investigation.”
