A83 near Port Ann | Essential Surfacing and Road Marking Improvements
UPDATE (11/08/2025): Due to changes elsewhere in the programme, works on the A83 Port Ann will now start on Tuesday 12 August
BEAR Scotland will undertake essential surfacing and road marking improvements on the A83 near Port Ann.
Carried out on behalf of Transport Scotland, resurfacing works will start at 7pm on Sunday 10 August and are due to be completed by 5am on Tuesday 19 August.
To protect the workforce and road users, this section of the A83 will be closed overnight. Hourly amnesties will be offered at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 1am, 2am, 3am and 4am to allow traffic to pass through the site under a 10mph convoy.
Following resurfacing, single lane closures will be in place on Friday 15 August to allow road markings to be reinstated. Temporary traffic lights and a 10pmh convoy will be in place on these nights to safely escort traffic through the site.
The road will be open as normal from 5am each day to keep disruption to a minimum, however a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be running over a temporary road surface.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These surfacing works on the A83 will fix existing defects in the area and improve safety for road users.
“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We’re grateful to the local community and road users for their patience.
“To minimise delays, we recommend that road users plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
