UPDATE (14/05/2025): Due to supply delays, carriageway improvements on the A83 through Ardrishaig are now expected to be completed by the morning of Friday 23 May

BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to start essential surfacing improvements on the A83 carriageway through the village of Ardrishaig.

Works will start at 6pm on Wednesday 23 April and are due to be completed by 3am on the morning of Saturday 17 May.

Table of works

During the resurfacing works, no works will take place on Friday or Saturday evenings, or on Sunday 4 and Monday 5 May.

To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, temporary traffic lights will be in use each night with a 10mph convoy system in place to control traffic through the work site during resurfacing. The final two days of works will involve road marking upgrades and will require traffic lights only.

Due to the nature of the works, temporary traffic lights may be required to stay in place during the day at small sections of the work site.  A 30mph speed restriction will remain in place outwith working hours due to traffic running over a temporary road surface with no road markings.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This surfacing project on the A83 through Ardrishaig will fix existing defects and significantly enhance the driving experience for all road users.

“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We’re grateful to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.

“To minimise delays, we recommend that road users plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
