A828 North of Barcaldine | Barrier Intallation

UPDATE (19/05/25): Due to the programme rescheduling, work in the A828 at Sutherlands Grove, Barcaldine have been postponed. New dates will be issued once they have been rescheduled.
Motorists using the A828 north of Barcaldine are set to benefit from the installation of safety barrier at Sutherlands Grove. This barrier will help protect the occupants of errant vehicles from reaching the adjacent Loch Creran in the event of them leaving the carriageway.
The project will get underway from Monday 2 June and is expected to take up to ten days to complete.
The improvements will be carried out between 7am and 6pm each day, with works due to be complete by 4pm on Friday 13 June. To keep road workers and the travelling public safe, the works will involve a northbound lane closure with temporary traffic lights and a 30mph speed limit in place. The temporary traffic lights will be in place 24 hours a day, except on Saturday and Sunday.
Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “This project will improve safety for road users along this route by installing safety barrier, thereby reducing the chance of anyone leaving the road coming to harm. Our team aim to minimise disruption by scheduling works to be undertaken prior to the peak tourist season and avoiding work at the weekend. Our teams will do all they can to finish the project as quickly and safely as possible.
