A82 near Grotaig | Rock Slope Works

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will commence the next phase of rock slope stabilisation works on the A82 near Grotaig, approximately 5.6 km south of Drumnadrochit, on Monday 28 September.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, a 24-hour lane closure with temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A82.

Working hours will be between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Sunday, with no night-time working currently planned. During these hours, there may be short periods where traffic is stopped in both directions to allow more complex works to be carried out safely. No full road closures are currently anticipated

Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works are expected to be completed by Thursday 24 December.

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Michael Baxter, BEAR Scotland’s North West Improvements Scheme Manager, said: “This rock slope stabilisation project is key to ensuring the ongoing safe operation of the A82.

“The works have been planned to minimise disruption to road users as far as possible; however, some delays are to be expected, especially during peak times.

“We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding while our teams carry out these essential works.”
